Randy at Work
Here Are Some County Accomplishments Since Randy Took Office in January of 2019:
Public Safety
• Supporting our law enforcement as they aggressively fight crime and threats to our county citizens.
• 10.6% increase in the sheriff’s budget this year, including funding of six deputy positions.
• Fought to protect our citizens and businesses from state overreach during COVID state and federal mask and closure mandate efforts.
• Transitioned the Flathead Emergency Communications Center to the County.
• Added a 5th District Court Judge and staff.
• Courthouse Remodel for the new District Judge and relocation of 2 Justices of the Peace.
Fiscal Responsibility
• Decreased or kept tax growth flat.
• Transitioned County Alcohol Tax funds from an out-of-county organization to an in-county treatment center.
• Commissioners added the North Complex facility for Elections, Treasurer, Motor Vehicles, Family Court, Superintendent of Schools.
• Worked directly with the Commissioner of Higher Education and the President of Montana State University, filling 4-H, Agriculture, and Home Sciences positions in the County Extension Services without increasing county taxes.
Transparency
• We added a Public Information Officer to the Commissioner’s Office to increase transparency and communication.
• Supported technology changes bringing heightened electronic security, transparency, and open communications to the county.
• Commissioners now meet for quarterly strategic planning meetings.
• Changed commissioner’s meetings from being randomly scheduled to regular meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
• Fulfilled my campaign promises including working every day, returning phone calls and emails, and listening to constituents needs.
• Supported efforts by the Library Board to provide strong community representation.
• Strengthened relations with our legislators during two sessions, crafting and supporting important legislation for Flathead County.
